600 lawyers sign letter calling on the UK to stop arms sales to Israel

As of 2022 the UK ran an £800 million trade surplus with Israel [ £6.4 billion total trade; that is, about 12% edge]. Removing the defense sector from the sell side of the UK ledger would better balance bilateral trade but at just £42 million in defense exports to Israel, the UK's overall surplus wouldn't even get below 11%. Most of that is just small arms and munitions, as well as aircraft parts. Israel could easily and quickly replace the first 2 with competing goods from other countries (indeed, those Israeli purchases could rightly be called a political trade favor to the Brits). As for the aircraft parts, the American gift subcontracting that component production work to the Brits would disappear forever if the UK showed itself to be an unreliable supplier. The finished aircraft are sold to many countries (and procured for the USA, itself).

To balance out the current surplus the UK could sell even less to Israel, peeling from other sectors, but here's a better idea: how about just buying more? When you buy from the Jews you know it's best in class.
