A seven-year-old boy has died following an incident at a swimming pool in Co Clare lodge on Saturday.
Gardaí and emergency providers responded to the scene in Killaloe shortly earlier than 3pm.
Garda sources confirmed the boy was rushed by ambulance from the Leisure Centre on the Lakeside Lodge & Leisure Centre, which overlooks the cities of Ballina and Killaloe, on Saturday afternoon.
It’s understood the boy, from the close by parish of Clonlara, had attended a birthday celebration on the lodge, positioned 24km from Limerick.
In response to queries, a Garda spokesman stated: “Gardaí and emergency providers responded to an incident at a swimming pool on a premises in Killaloe, Co Clare, shortly earlier than 3pm on Saturday, April twentieth.”
“A seven-year-old boy was transported from the scene to College Hospital Limerick, the place he was later pronounced deceased.”
The native coroner has been notified and a postmortem examination is but to happen.
It’s understood the boy was recovered from the water unconscious and efforts had been made to attempt to save his life on the poolside. Garda sources stated they had been treating the boy’s demise as a “tragic accident”, and that foul play was not suspected.
The pool on the lodge’s leisure centre was instantly closed. Native individuals expressed their condolences for the boy’s household.
One member of the neighborhood broke down in tears and supplied: “God love them, it’s each mother or father’s worst nightmare.” The lodge couldn’t instantly be reached for remark.
