Manipur ethnic clashes are not new. It was a very sensitive area since Independence. A few peaceful years and the violence again escalted. It is ethnic not religious clashes. It has also to do with reservations for tribal groups which both group wants for themselves but not for the other side. It has also to do with the drug smuggling and porous border with Myanmar which the govt wants to close. There is no one issue. Both groups are very violent towards each other and they also have their own armed groups. Its a very complicated issue even kashmir was not this complicated.

Manipur was an ethnic riot but the whole world want this to be a religious riot and so pushing that sort of narrative. The issue isn't between Christians and Hindu. The issue is between Meitei nationalist and Kuki refugees. A lot of Meitei nationalist are themselves extremely anti Hindu.

Obviously if the Kukis will see that portraying this as religious riot will increase global support to them, they will most certainly try to make it as Christian vs Hindu.

Lastly, the Indian opposition on whose term Manipur burned 1000 times like it's burning now, is using it for their agenda. The NE India was never a stable region. That area is rife with ethnic tension.

My friend from Manipur told me the disputes between the two tribes have been happening from past many years. Even during Congress rule, they turned a blind eye towards them.
Apart from that the illegal immigration of kuki community members from Mayanmar is adding fuel to the fire.
No party , i repeat, NO PARTY is able to solve the issue till now.

Very very unfortunate situation in Manipur since 3rd May 2023 to still date ocuring the fighting firing,Manipur and Indian Govt has not been strong action for this unfortunate war between two communities.
