Director Barry Jenkins appeared at his first CinemaCon to point out off a trailer from Mufasa: The Lion King this afternoon at CinemaCon.
How did an arthouse director and Moonlight Oscar winner tackle a four-quadrant film? He puzzled that himself for a minute, nonetheless, he informed the gang that he’s seen the unique 1994 film 200x together with his nieces and nephews.
“When the script got here to me I used to be fascinated by watching these advanced individuals coping with advanced feelings…this movie explores Mufasa rise to grow to be the heroic king that we all know,” Jenkins informed attendees at Caesars Palace Colosseum.

That is the follow-up to Jon Favreau’s 2019 blockbuster The Lion King which grossed almost $1.7B worldwide — and like that movie, it seems to be prefer it stars actual animals, the CGI is that good. Jenkins helms off a script by Jeff Nathanson.
The movie continues with the photo-realistic know-how that Favreau used within the 2019 movie and 2016’s The Jungle E-book.
The logline reads: Simba, having grow to be king of the Satisfaction Lands, is set for his cub to observe in his paw prints whereas the origins of his late father Mufasa are explored.
Solid embody Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr, Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner. Jenkins’ PASTEL companions Adele Romanski and Mark Ceryak are producing with Disney. International launch kicks off on December 20.
