A postmortem is because of be carried out on the physique of a seven-year-old boy who died following an incident at a swimming pool in a Co Clare resort on Saturday.
The incident occurred on the Lakeside Resort and Leisure Centre in Killaloe.
It’s understood the boy was recovered from the water unconscious and efforts have been made to attempt to save his life on the poolside.
The native coroner has now been notified, and a postmortem is to happen.
Garda sources confirmed the boy was rushed by ambulance from the resort, which overlooks the cities of Ballina and Killaloe, on Saturday afternoon.
It’s understood the boy, from the close by parish of Clonlara, had attended a birthday celebration on the resort, 24km from Limerick.
In response to queries, a Garda spokesman stated: “Gardaí and emergency companies responded to an incident at a swimming pool on a premises in Killaloe, Co Clare, shortly earlier than 3pm on Saturday, April twentieth.”
“A seven-year-old boy was transported from the scene to College Hospital Limerick, the place he was later pronounced deceased.”
Garda sources stated they have been treating the boy’s dying as a “tragic accident”, and that foul play was not suspected.
The pool on the resort’s leisure centre was instantly closed.
Native folks expressed their condolences for the boy’s household.
One member of the group broke down in tears and provided: “God love them, it’s each mum or dad’s worst nightmare.” The resort couldn’t instantly be reached for remark.
