Sounds like how it went in the late 70s before the conservatives were voted out.
They come in after a labour government and at first things go ok but after 2 terms they start to slip in to helping their mates (I guess as the original batch of MPs that won the first election are gone and have been repülaced by ones that are just after getting their snouts in the trough).
After 4 terms they've caused so much damage it's starting to look like scorched earth. it's as if they know they are on the way out and are trying to make things so unfixable the next non conservative government will have a lot of trouble fixing things.

They've tried to let the market run things (or let their backers run things for their own profit) and it always ends with bad services, crumbling infrastructure and the conservatives blaming others (unions, single mothers, people on benefits).
Time for them to go and we get a breather for 12 years or so.
