The First Crowd’s Meeting of Victoria says it has written to federal and circumstance ministers calling on them to serve reputation for Aboriginal servicemen who had been excluded from a scheme that helped veterans gain land.
The Soldier Agreement Scheme aimed to develop farming communities through giving returning WWI & WWII servicemen loans for the acquisition of parcels of land and kit.
A joint undertaking between federal and circumstance governments, Victoria had obtained some 1m hectares of Crown land through 1930, and 12,000 squaddies took benefit of the scheme.
