The UAE Council for Fatwa has confirmed the permissibility of giving Zakat Al Fitr in money, setting a beneficial worth of AED25 per individual in 1445 AH.
Zakat Al Fitr is a compulsory obligation for all financially succesful Muslims, no matter age or gender. The pinnacle of the family is answerable for fulfilling this obligation on behalf of their partner, youngsters, and dependents.
In an announcement forward of Eid Al Fitr, the Council defined that Zakat Al Fitr is compulsory, in line with the hadith by Ibn Omar, “Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) has made Sadaqat Al Fitr compulsory, (and it was), both one Sa’ of barley or one Sa’ of dates”.
The UAE Council of Fatwa acknowledged that Zakat Al Fitr quantities to 2.5 kilogrammes of rice per individual, and could also be made in type (as rice) or in money.
