X will now not enable customers to cover their blue checks, no matter whether or not they paid for premium or not. On Thursday, the app started notifying customers that “the cover your checkmark characteristic of X Premium goes away quickly.”
The change comes shortly after X unexpectedly started including blue checks to the accounts of “influential” customers with at the very least 2,500 followers who pay for a premium subscription. Whereas Elon Musk urged that change was meant to be a perk, a few of his critics — together with previously verified customers — had been lower than happy with the blue badge showing on their accounts, lest others suspect them of truly paying for a subscription.
